Hey Guys & Dolls! Holidays are past us, hope your's were good....ours were fine! Now we're headed into another season. We enjoyed Christmas & New Years Eve in Sunny Florida and had a busy few weeks with visitors from all over the place! Nice to settle in and enjoy this unbelievable warm Winter. (so far).
I have been busy working outside around the house. I can't believe how much I enjoy, planting, pruning and cleaning out the gardens. I even planted 5 Areca Palm Trees along our wooden fence with the help of my young nephew Ben who stopped by for a few days while his parents were down in Florida on vacation. I must say we are lookin' good down here!
Our Norwegian harmonica playing friend Eric was over for a few weeks visiting after Christmas and we enjoyed running around town with him. We even got into the studio to begin work on "The New Album"...... Looks like it will be all originals with some bass, clarinet and percussion! Last week I had a rehearsal with a great stand up bass player and pal, T-Bone Hamilton who sounded great on the tunes we ran through. Then I had some great news, that my favorite 'drummer', Glenn Evans who recorded with me on The Polk City Ramble Album (Rounder Records) a while back will be back down here for a visit & is on board for the next session. We are recording at PANDA STUDIOS in Largo with George Harris who worked with me on many projects over the years and we are getting pretty excited! This will be my first studio album in many years as many of you already know!
My old pal and favorite picker, Paul Geremia has been gigging around Florida for the past month and last night we had a great show at The Palladium Theater, in downtown St Petersburg. The place was packed with enthusiastic friends and fans, the sound man did a great job and it was really perfect! Paul & I laughed later saying that if it was like that every night, we'd go pro!
This weekend was The Orlando Vintage Guitar Show and as I had a gig here in town, I had to miss that. So many of my Guitar Pals go, I felt a little bad about it. I'm sure a large time was had by all and that I will hear all about when my old friend Bob Carlin stops by to visit next week!
Well my friends, that's about all the news that's fit to print! Stay warm if you can and stay tuned for the next Book Report!
