Back in The States

So good to be back in The States!! We finished up our tour with 5 days in The Jersey Channel Islands visiting our dear friends Robert & Thelma Tilling. Had a great visit, a nice gig, some super meals and some not so great scrabble games! (Thelma is the champ!)

It is so hard to believe that I first met Bob Tilling over 40 years ago, when he wrote a letter to Rev. Gary Davis and I answered it! Both The Rev. and I included a visit to Jersey shortly after...

Robert of course is the collaborator & first publisher of, OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CITY. The Book has recently been reissued by Stefan Grossman & Mel Bay Publishing and is now available around the world on the Internet as well as at finer hip music & book stores. We were both pleased when Stefan asked my nephew Adam to be The Books designer! Adam has known Robert since he was a baby and he can play some pretty good Davis as well!

The Book is a collection of essays written by friends, fans, and musicians whose lives were touched by Gary Davis. It includes many photos, a chronology, discography, obituaries and reviews of The Great Man's life. A must have for all fans of the music!

So....we made it home ok after a long day of flying. It was no doubt the best overseas tour of my career. The festivals in Norway and Denmark were especially satisfying and I hope to return in the near future.

Our Pal Red, picked us up at the Cinci Airport and took us back to The Bus, which he and his wife Sue so kindly kept an eye on while we were gone. God bless them! Nancy and I took off after the weekend and spent my birthday at The Grand Victoria Resort in Indianna and had a great time. I was sad to take my "road manager" to the airport the next day, but we will be together again before long.

The weather has warmed up and I am now in Illinois, with a gig in Rockford tonight and Evanston tomorrow. I'm getting used to being back in my comfort zone and doing what I do...though I do look forward to my Florida Time and getting back to old St. Pete.

So my friends, that about gets you up to date for now, I do hope to see you at one of the upcomming shows.
