Greetings From the Jersey Shore

"The Wife" and I are camped out down by Cape May NJ. What a great time we have had since Nancy flew into Newark last week. We camped that night in Jersey City, with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in view from our 'campsite'. A short ferry ride away from Manhattan! Unbelievable...

We had a 'private party' in NJ booked for our second day together and what a fun day that was. The whole gang that used to be The Northern New Jersey Folk Society was there! 33 years ago, I met Fats Kaplin at The June Days Folk Festival that they organized! We became a duo, toured all around the country and made two albums together, before we went our seperate ways. We had a great sound and a great time back in those days. I'll never forget them...It was so great to see all of these old friends, I felt like it was "This is your Life"....too bad Fats wasn't there...

Next we visited my Mom who is doing fantastic in her new digs. Got to visit with my older Brother and Sister-In-Law as well, before we headed out to Larchmont for a Tuesday gig at The Watercolor Cafe.

The Cafe is a cool Jazz club and fine resturant that has been booking Folk and Blues acts mid week. My third gig there was probably my best so far. We had a great meal and a nice crowd showed up including about 4-5 guys from The Fur Peace Ranch. Bruce the owner told me that John Hammond had recently performed there for his first time and said he was a little anxious about the gig until he saw my poster hanging on the door. "If Roy was here it'll be fine", he told his Wife Marla.

After the gig we 'camped out' at the first rest area on the Garden State Parkway and then made our way South towards Atlantic City in the morning. We walked on the boardwalk, ate pizza and played some penny slots before continuing on down to Cape May where we will spend the next few days. Saturday morning we will take the ferry to Delaware for a little more R&R befor the gig in Smyrna.

The weather has been great and we look forward to next week up in New England. We hope that your Summer will be as good as ours.....
