Happy New Year to All

Well, here we go again.....good bye to a great year....we had more good times than bad and hope you did too...Always lookin' forward to see what's goin' to happen next on this fantastic journey....

Did the New Years Eve thing at Skippers Smokehouse in Tampa, first year the weather worked out for Skippers bash in ages! (warm and dry). Rev. Billy C. Wirtz was somthing else....he is a great piano player and a hilarious performer. I couldn't begin to describe his act but he was a definate crowd pleaser. The Nighthawks were up next with various alumni bandmembers and the finale which we didn't stay for included Jim Thackery who I believe was their first guitar player. Apparently they will be touring together again....

Earlier in the week ...Vidar Busk arrived in St. Pete from Norway. We Havn't seen him since Rock Bottoms send off a few years ago. When Vidar was 15, he came to the US to join Rock's band and he learned his lessons well. An amazing blues guitarist and singer....but what a showman! He was recently awarded his second GOLD RECORD in Norway where he records for Warner Brothers...(Vidar recorded my tune, ANYWHERE YOU GO, on his second cd & made it a real hot jump-blues number!) Great to hear him sit in with local blues bands...best music we heard in local clubs since Rock Bottom passed away! He will be back again with Norwegian film crew after his New Years Eve gig in Manhatan and we look forward to it!

Beautiful day in St. Pete, almost 80 degrees! So nice to be home with Nancy. Looking forward to a few concerts down here. Every Winter we seem to get some great acts trying to escape the 'rain, sleet and snow' of the far North! Rory Block, Bill Morrisey and Paul Geremia are among those touring the South this season. I know Paul has a new cd due out this Spring and that is always good news!

The 'West Coast Tour', so far is still up in the air, waiting for 'anchor dates' to confirm. Regardless of what direction the tour takes us, it will be another great adventure I'm sure....

Decided I must have an early 1930's, 14 frett mahogany or Rosewood Nick Lucas Special! I have some good trade items, including 1936 Martin 0018 (sunburst), 1946 Martin 00021, 1939 Recording King Jumbo and a National style #1 tricone....Keep your eyes out for me and we just might find what I am looking for.

All the best to you and yours, from me and mine...

Bye For Now
