Less then 5 weeks to MERLEFEST

Less then 5 weeks to MERLEFEST ! Florida is warming up good...Suwannee Springfest was great except for the weather. Friday storms were unreal, leaving the 2 main stage areas way under water! Beth & Randy did a great job of moving most events inside and adapting the best they could. The 'campers' kept their wet spirits high and we all survived and enjoyed some fine music and visiting with friends.

This was the debut gig for my new guitar! I had been looking for an early 14 fret mahogany Nick Lucas Special for over 15 years and some of my guitar pals let me know that it was in Seatle. A deal was arranged and I am delighted! I do love my 1936 Maple bodied 'Nick', but the mahogany has a dryer, sweeter sound. It is about a 1929-30 model and it is in real nice shape. The new Nick will be on the tour this Spring...

My 'Papa Sid' is failing at 91 years old and I will be up North to see him and my Mom in a few days. He has been my 'Step-Dad' for over 40 years. It's never easy when a loved one reaches the end of his journey as you all know. Strange how we can never be ready for what we all know will eventually happen....The Family has gathered and we will soon join them.

Still confirming dates for 'The Big Tour' of '05. Do keep an eye on the Itinerary Page. The new cd, LIVE AT THE FUR PEACE STATION is at the manufacturers and will be ready for the start of the tour. I am very pleased with it and hope you all are too!

Almost forgot! Check out http://www.gothamfishtales/ This is a film about fishermen in N.Y.C.!! And Rev. Davis music is used as the soundtrack!! How cool is that.......

And...my pal Robert Lockwood Jr. just celebrated his 90th birthday! Cleveland was buzzing all month with celebrations at all his gigs. The Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame had a sold out evening for him. Wish I could have been there. Lots of Blues Fans up at Merlefest will be in for a special treat when Robert performs on April 30th. He told me the other day that he was really looking forward to that show!

I guess I will sign off for now, lots to do to prepare for the drive over to THE BAMBOO ROOM gig in Lake Worth tomorrow. You take care now and remember Spring is on it's way!

Bye For Now,

Roy
