Fur Peace Ranch, just confirmed "couples weekend" with The Book, August 13-16 2004! My 3rd session for the year....book early!

Fantastic Fall tour! Special thanks to those attending shows in Texas and Arkansas. KING BISCUIT FESTIVAL was the best. Ernie Hawkins and Patrick Sweany were the highlights on the Acoustic Stage! Ernie will be at MERLEFEST 2004 in April!!

Had another nice 'close encounter' with my new old buddy, Robert Lockwood. Wish we had become closer when we first met. He was in his late 70's and I was in my late 40's...oh well, better late then never....Robert and his band were so cool....they are THE BISCUIT ! Mr. Lockwood of course starred on the KING BISCUIT RADIO show back in 1941 with Sonny Boy Williamson!!

The Birthday celebration in Atlanta at Blind Willie's was great, and filmed by Preston Poe who is well into his film, THE BOOK. Mr. Poe was recently awarded a grant from the Univ. of South Florida to document "The National Treasure" at his big gig with Jorma and Ernie at Merkin Hall in NYC in January!.....pretty cool....

Texas was good...happened to arrive in Dallas the night before THE DALLAS VINTAGE GUITAR SHOW....got hooked up with dealer pals who arranged a VIP pass for Friday, and I got to hang out with all my 'guitar dealin' pals and have a ball. Met with GIBSON reps and there is talk about THE ROY BOOK BINDER MODEL....If it happens, it would be a 14 fret Mahogany Nick Lucas Special, with a red spruce top (with small vintage sunburst), short scale and Big V shaped neck..... will keep you infomed...

Driving to Crockett Texas, I stopped at a pawn shop. Rarely do I stop anymore because the chances of finding anything of value at a good price is so rare. Could not believe that I found a 1964 Gibson made Epiphone 12 string with a tailpiece, priced about the same as the Korean 12 string next to it! The guitar was perfect...I was in and out in 12 minutes...tuned down to C, The Guitar sounded great and played like a dream! Have been using it on stage for a few tunes ever since.... First time I have used a 12 string on stage, it is cool.....

Dallas, Crockett and Houston were great...good crowds of old and new friends, and I really enjoyed every show . Three gigs in Arkansas last month too! They were all well attended and a blast...and we just keep rolling along...

After playing cards for a few days at a Tunica Mississippi casino, I decided to take my winnings, leave the bus in the campground and fly home for a week. Glad I did, great to be home with the Wife, and get to hang out with friends and family, and enjoy a preview of the upcoming Winter Season in St. Pete.

Back to Memphis in a few days and then the big drive to New York, where I will have a few days before flying out to the Northwest for my gigs at EMP in Seattle and The Vancouver Storytelling Festival. So far being 60 ain't bad....

Bye For Now, see ya'all at the show!
