Winter is Gone

Well, the Winter is gone and it's almost time to hit the road for "my big fat tour" of '04...Got new tires on "the bus", got her tuned up and all I have to do is put a good coat of wax on it and load up for another season. Looking forward to it all. Thinking about the big road trip still gets the juices flowing, which is pretty cool after all these years.

The SUWANNEE SPRINGFEST up in Live Oak Florida was really great. My morning 'hands on bring your guitar workshop' was well received on both Saturday and Sunday. Lots of happy pickers showed up and I did enjoy it. I had a nice concert spot between a Bluegrass Super Session and Guy Clark on Saturday and played a bunch of vintage "BOOK" from my early albums as well as a few new numbers which went over pretty well. Springfest is always great and it really kicks off the season for me. Got a nice mention in BILLBOARD on line and already re-booked for 2005 !!

Last week end was The Tampa Blues Festival. It takes place about a mile from our house, too bad they have never have any acoustic music there...actually they did have Keb Mo last year who told the audience my video works! Kind of embarassing to say I have never been asked to perform there, but thats life. I did get to take the big stage to announce the winners of the ROCK BOTTOM Scholarship awards that are awarded to college bound students every year by the SUNCOAST BLUES SOCIETY. It is so cool that Rock in this way is still keeping the blues alive! Highlights of that Festival were Anson Funderburgh & The Rockets with Sam Myers, Betty Lavet and Marcia Ball who really rocked the crowd.

Will be doing another 'Spring Training' gig this weekend at Fogartyville, down in Bradenton and I am really looking forwrd to it. We saw Paul Geremia play down there this Winter to a packed house and he was more brilliant than ever. He has a new CD on Red House. And on the 17th I will be performing at the STRING BREAK MUSIC FEST up by Dade City. Really lookin' forward to playing this brand new festival. The line up is quite eclectric and look like it will be a lot fo fun. Good camping up there too. Visit their website linked to my itinerary page...

Hope to do a little fishing next week and then load up the bus for the big trip. Hope to see you out there this year. Remember to visit The Fur Peace Ranch website and plan to come on down sometime, it's a really a great experience.

By the way, our Homespun products are now all available on DVD and we expect BOOK'S BLUES BOOK to be available any time now.

So...untill next time,

By For Now, Roy
